What to know and how to contact us during an emergency.

It is always best to contact DPS first during an emergency.  This helps with a quicker, more efficient response from DPS, MPD, or DC EMS.  First, we have a direct line to the DC Office of Unified Command therefore we can reach them quicker and provide them the necessary information as quickly as possible.  Our trained dispatchers know exactly how to inform them of an emergency and exactly what to thell them.  Second, when you contact us first it allows us to send you immediate assistance while coordinating the response from city officials.  While awaiting response we can provide first aid or other assistance and arrange to meet responding emergency vehicles and lead them directly to the incident.

If you bypass DPS, responding city officials will not have exact building and room location and it could lead to an unnecessary and dangerous loss of precious time and it does not allow us to serve you properly.

So, in an emergency contact us immediatley at:

dps@gallaudet.edu or call at 202-651-5555 or in an emergency use the "Emergensee App".

Also, the dispatcher center does not have videophones.  This is because there is little to no time delay when calling through a video relay service and most VRI's are trained in 911 emergency calls.
