Courses and Degree Requirements
Develop Your Portfolio

Intern or work on a volunteer project at one of the Smithsonian museums or an international organization. Join the design staff of the student newspaper, create a logo for a student group, prepare an exhibit for Gallaudet’s Washburn Arts Center or work as a studio lab assistant. Opportunities for student artists are virtually unlimited at Gallaudet and in Washington, D.C.

Career Outcomes

Training and Job Outlook

Most graphic design positions require at least a bachelor’s degree, and many other types of artists find that a degree improves their job prospects. Employment of graphic designers in computer systems design and related services is projected to grow 35 percent from 2012 to 2022.
